Rest-Memorial Day 2018

A set of tags,
crumpled letter,
worn boots,
A pool of blood,
dressings on the ground,
flat line,
i'm sorry you didn't make it back.
Taps and tears,
rifles and flowers,
two hands under folded flag,
heads lift up from black.
Honor and duty,
tamed by none,
more than a friend,
always part of this pack.
